2004 saw the first running of the p-team mountain running champs.
The race was borne out of a frustration with the types of races on offer currently, races that don't test the allround ability of p-team runners. So a race was developed that reflects the p-team spirit. The course map is below.
The race starts with a pie and beer at the bottom of the Tip Track.
The runners then go up the Tip Track, a hill that goes up to the Hawkins Hill radar station from Happy Valley Road, climbing 450m over 3.5km.
At the radar station competitors have another beer. Then it's a nice gentle downhill jog to the wind turbine, dropping about 150m over 3km. Once at the end, competitors get to reflect on a hard run race.
This year will see the third running of the event, Saturday Septemer 30th, at 2.00pm, from the tip track.
Meet at the club rooms at 1.30pm for a jog to the start, or be at the Tip Track at 1.55.
Donation of $4 covers the cost of the catering.
Anyone who wants to run the course but not take part in the consumption is more than welcome to provide support. The 'race' is meant to be a fun, light-hearted, end to the harriers season - don't take it seriously. We don't!
